Volley is a place to catalogue your own clothes and, if you want to, open some of them to friends you already know. These are the rules of that. They are written to be read, not to be survived.
You need to be 17 or older. One account per person, under your own name — Volley is built on friends recognising each other, and that only works if the person on the other side is who she says she is.
Volley is in private beta. Things change, screens move, and features arrive and occasionally leave. We will tell you when something changes that you can see.
You keep every right to your own photographs. You give us permission to do the specific jobs the app does with them — store them for you, cut the background off a garment, suggest tags, and show a piece to a friend when you have opened that piece to her. Nothing wider than that.
We don't use your photos to advertise, we don't put them in a public feed — there isn't one — and we don't hand them to anyone beyond the two services that do that processing. The privacy page names those two, says what they keep, and says for how long.
When you open a piece to a friend and she asks to borrow it, the agreement is between you and her. Volley shows you both the same information and gets out of the way.
Lend the things you would lend anyway, to the people you would lend them to. Volley is a better way to keep track of that — not a reason to take a risk you wouldn't otherwise take.
Short list, and none of it will surprise you.
If an account is being used to do any of that, we may close it. We'll tell you why.
We can promise to look after your closet carefully, to be straight with you about what the app does, and to fix things when they break.
We can't promise Volley will never be down, never lose a tag, or never get something wrong — it is a small app built by a small team, and it's honest to say so. To the extent the law allows, Volley is provided as it is, and our liability is limited to what you have paid us, which for lending is nothing.
The automatic photo check that looks at a piece before it is lent is a help, not a guarantee. If it holds a piece back you see why and can lend it anyway — your word above the check's.
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Your pieces, your photos, your cutouts, your wall and your profile picture are emptied out of storage, and the backups roll off within 30 days. The privacy page has the detail.
If you delete your account while something of yours is out with a friend, the record of that loan goes too. Get your things back first.
If we change something here that matters, we'll say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page and hoping you re-read it. The date at the top is the honest one.
